[NOVEL REVIEW] Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Titan's Curse

"There is always a way, for those clever enough to find it." - Artemis

Problems do not stop occurring. In this third novel of Percy Jackson & the Olympians series it maps the adventures of the fourteen year-old Percy Jackson as he and his friends go on an extremely dangerous quest to rescue his dear friend, Annabeth Chase and the Greek goddess Artemis (goddess of war), who have both been kidnapped.

Here, we are also familiarized with certain notable characters. They are Thalia- daughter of Zeus and Nico and Bianca- children of Hades.
Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia escort two sibling half-bloods named Nico and Bianca di Angelo that Grover Underwood has found. They are attacked by amanticore named Dr. Thorn. Though Artemis and her hunters arrive to help, Annabeth is captured by Dr. Thorn. Artemis goes off alone to hunt an Olympus-destroying monster she believes to have finally returned from Tartarus. She sends the half-bloods and Hunters (whose number now includes Bianca di Angelo) to Camp Half-Blood with her brother Apollo.

In order to save the world, powers shall be pieced together. Artemis Hunters and Demigods unite to fight putting the world in peace. As Thalia has turned immortal by joining the Hunters, Percy and Nico are left and wondering who will be the one who fulfil the prophecy.

The prophecy given by the oracle to Zoƫ Nightshade- daughter of Atlas reads:

Five shall go west to the goddess in chains,
One shall be lost in the land without rain,
The bane of Olympus shows the trail,
Campers and Hunters combined prevail,
The Titan’s curse must one withstand,
And one shall perish by a parent’s hand.

In this third sequence of series, the conflicts are getting more and more complex as the Titan’s power is getting stronger and the army keeps adding in number. The struggle to prevent Kronos returning back cost lives in the way. Rick Riordan definitely shows his capabilities in manuscript mythology book for he writes in such detail way where words and plot flow smoothly. No wonder I am falling for Percy Jackson character as he is really faithful and has strong determination towards something. On the other hand, sacrifice made by one of them at junk yard arouse me compassion.
Here, readers get to know the limitation along with the weakness of each god and we can see that the gods can’t stand alone for they do need demigods to prolong their empire. We also witness how someone suffering from a loss can change so much. Further, most of the characters have shown which side they are in. But we will never know what the future will be and how it’ll affect us, won’t we?
