[NOVEL REVIEW] Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Last Olympians

A half-blood of the eldest gods
Shall reach 16 against all odds
And see the world in endless sleep,
The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap
A single choice shall end his days,
Olympus to preserve or raze.

Flashing to the Great Prophecy given by the latest Oracle, the climax of Percy Jackson & the Olympians series is about to come. Questions will soon to be answered and secrets are going to be revealed. When your inner heart-conscience call, would you like listening to it?

The Last Olympian revolves around the demigod Percy Jackson as he leads his friends in a last stand to protect Mount Olympus. While on a drive with Rachel Dare, Percy is approached by Charles Beckendorf, who informs him that it is time to enact their surprise attack on The Princess Andromeda. However, Kronos, still possessing Luke Castellan, is not caught off guard because of a spy at Camp Half-Blood, and Beckendorf must sacrifice his life to destroy the ship, while Percy escapes with a heavy heart. Percy is awakened by his half-brother Tyson, in his father Poseidon's underwater palace, which is under siege by the forces of the Titan Oceanus. Percy wants to stay and help fight with his father, but Poseidon sends Percy back to Camp Half-Blood to hear the "Great Prophecy".

Percy informs the camp that there is a spy among them. Then, Percy leaves again with Nico di Angelo, son of Hades, to find out Nico's plan for Percy to defeat Kronos, as mentioned at the end of The Battle of the Labyrinth. Percy emerges from the Underworld in New York City, leaving Nico behind to convince his father to join the fight against Kronos. Percy calls the campers (minus the children of Ares, who are still angry with the Apollo cabin) to battle. Chiron appoints Percy as the leader. They enter Olympus through the Empire State while the entire New York city has been under sleeping spell and time has been slowing down.

The real final battle has started. Hunters of Artemis; satyrs and nymphs; Chiron's centaur cousins the Party Ponies; Cyclops; gods; and automaton-statues fashioned by the late Daedalus all join forces to beat the Titan’s army and super-ancient-gigantic monsters. In the last combat in the throne room at Olympus, Percy and Luke both are confronted with options whether to stand on the right side till the end or to pursue own ego.
Touching scenes ending this series do leave a deeply charming impression in my heart. Taken as a whole, according to my opinion, this novel is flawless. The story is full of intrigues yet delightful which generate intense emotion of the readers. The storyline is sketched to the finest point making me always enquiring what will happen next. The entire characters are developed remarkably and each plays important role in certain sections. By means of the story, readers are taught that allegiance and friendship are ought to be upheld strongly and betrayal must cost something in expense.

Lastly, I can say beyond doubt that this series are absolutely worth to read. My appreciated farewell is sent to Rick Riordan plus Percy Jackson and squads!
